During a mountaineering exercise, Peter's father resolutely chose to cut the rope and fell to his death in order to successfully rescue him. Due to the painful shadow in his heart, Peter (Chris O'Donnell) gave up his mountaineering career and broke up with his sister who was also a mountaineer.
